Step Tools
1 Preparation 4
Enables the iterative development of a Component architecture (see AV-1, BEA-Log repository).
    1. Assemble team. Identify and assemble team to develop Component architecture products.
    2. Gather tools. Locate and review any documents previously created which can be used as input to architecture development, to include BEA-Log architecture products. Decide which tools, methodologies, and templates will be used to complete deliverables.
    3. Prepare for team kick-off. Schedule, create agenda, package tools and task plan.
    4. Become familiar with guidelines. Review BEA-Log Compliance Plan, DoDAF.
    5. Team kick-off. Hold team kick-off meeting.

DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF)

2 Develop architecture scope and objectives 4
Describes the purpose, scope, content, goals and objectives, and intended use of the architecture and its link to BEA-Log.
    1. Develop AV-1. Document the purpose, scope, content, goals and objectives, and intended use of the architecture.
    2. Tie to Component strategic plan. Document how the architecture supports the Component's strategic plan.
    3. Tie to Force-centric Logistics Enterprise (FLE) vision. Document how the architecture supports the FLE vision.

3 Develop high-level operational concept 4
Depicts the operational scope and context for the architecture (OV-1).
    1. Develop OV-1. Document the operational scope and context for the architecture.
    2. Tie to component strategic plan. Document how the OV-1 relates to the Component strategic plan.
    3. Tie to FLE vision. Document how the OV-1 links to the FLE vision.

4 Develop operational node connectivity description 4
Depicts operational nodes and the information needlines between nodes (OV-2).
    1. Develop operational node connectivity description (OV-2). Document the operational nodes and their information needlines.
    2. Tie to Component strategic plan. Document how the OV-2 relates to the Component strategic plan.
    3. Tie to BEA-Log. Document how the Component nodes link to the BEA-Log OV-2 nodes (see BEA-Log OV-2 and OV-2 Node Descriptions).
