Learn Enterprise Integration Concepts Online Via Defense Acquisition University Continuous Learning Module
A self-paced, distance-learning Continuous Learning Module (CLM), entitled "Enterprise Integration Overview," is available at the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Continuous Learning Center. The two lessons in the online course introduce fundamental Enterprise Integration (EI) concepts, implementation strategies and best practices. Overviews of the EI Toolkit, legal and regulatory frameworks, and a typical acquisition life cycle are provided.
The primary target audiences for the CLM include members of the IT, SPRDE, PM and LOG DAWIA career fields. Secondary audiences include non-DAWIA personnel from user communities and related functional domains (personnel management, finance, etc.) who are involved in Enterprise Integration efforts. While a background in acquisition would be useful, the EI CLM makes no assumptions regarding student background.
To access the EI Overview CLM, login to the DAU Continuous Learning Center, select "Learning Center" and then "Course Information & Access". Scroll down the "Self-Paced Modules" list and click on the "Enterprise Integration Overview" link to launch the course.
EI Toolkit Introduces New Logo
A logo has been designed for the EI Toolkit to brand the Web site and increase recognition of its tools and resources. Integration of the logo throughout the Web pages and tool documents will be implemented in future releases. In addition, standardized templates and version control procedures are being developed to give the tools a consistent look and feel, improve document management and identify and track content revisions.
ESI Awards Blanket Purchase Agreements
In May 2004, the DoD Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI), in collaboration with the Program Implementation Group (PIG), awarded Blanket Purchase Agreements to Accenture, Bearing Point, CSC, Deloitte and IBM for fixed price and performance-based COTS implementation contracts. The BPAs are structured in accordance with approved vendor methodologies and tie payments to achievement of program goals and objectives. The BPAs may be used by all DoD programs that will be implementing a COTS business systems software package and are targeted to avoid more than $3 billion in cost over the next five years. The BPAs can be accessed at the Enterprise Software Initiative Web site.
